Development of a new web portal in Drupal
El Bosque University is a private university located in Bogotá, Colombia, founded in 1977.
El Bosque University is consolidating its position as a multidisciplinary training university, with a focus on health and quality of life that articulates its development (in training, research, transfer, and service). It is integrated into the global environment and committed to local, regional, and national needs and opportunities.
BACKGROUND:
The University had a six-year-old portal built on Drupal 6. Although the portal responded to the mission of any university, it was built on a non-responsive template, which resulted in the main container having a permanent fixed width. The University also realized it needed to refresh the design and update the content management system, which was already lagging behind in functionality and responsiveness.
WHY WAS DRUPAL 8 CHOSEN?
The University had several years of experience managing technical and content needs using Drupal 6. This experience, combined with the new features offered by Drupal 8, such as the integrated lifecycle, security, stability, and support, made this the platform that best suited its needs.

Project description:
The University's objective with the development of a new portal is to foster a sense of belonging and participation within the university community by consolidating a digital asset that allows them to disseminate and promote institutional and academic activities. This portal is an important part of the University's Digital Ecosystem, which includes several platforms and web applications.
Within the improvement process, we helped El Bosque University to:

Select Drupal 8 for the institutional website, as it best suits the needs of the University and the Digital Ecosystem.

Propose the technical and connectivity features of cloud hosting according to the project's needs.

Install and configure Drupal 8 and create the theme based on the wireframes and renders provided by the University.

Document the Drupal 8 installation and configuration process, including domain and CMS usernames and passwords.

Identify and implement additional applications, tools, and/or widgets to Drupal that are necessary for the portal to function properly.

Design and implement a training program for editors and administrators of the WEB Portal.

Recommend using a multi-site installation.
RESULT:
The University now has a fully manageable Drupal 8 portal that guarantees information security and platform stability. This portal is better than the previous one in terms of performance, information availability, user experience, system performance, and search engine ranking.
